Cable Fault Locator: Normally the partial discharge in cable is occurred in the first and third quadrant. The duration of every discharge is about ten more ns. Owing to the integration and shape of sampling wires, the duration of every impulse display finally on oscilloscope is about 100 ns. In the cable the discharge impulses transmit at the speed of electro-magnetic wave, the speed is about 160-170 m/μs. If a cable occurs discharge, the fault point position an be located with traveling-wave method.
